December 19, 2005. Rev. Vadym Zinchenko, Head of the Kyivan Eparchy with other Ukrainian Lutherans has celebrated St. Nicholas Day at the orphanage located in town of Potiyivka, Zhytomyr Oblast. Pastor Zinchenko has led a devotion and pastoral conversations with children from the orphanage. Prior to this trip members of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kyiv have donated their money so that orphans could enjoy some chocolates and grow in the Word of God. Orphans have also received generous gifts from the National Charitable Foundation “Ukraine for Children” and National Union “Our Ukraine”.

December 18, 2005. Rev. Oleh Stetsiuk, Head of the Tavrian Eparchy has visited Ukrainian Lutheran congregation in Bereznehuvate, Mykolaiv Oblast. Pastor Oleh got acquainted with Deacon Yuriy Tytskiy’s vicarage in this parish and also led the worship service with the Holy Communion for local believers. Eparchy Head has also had meetings with congregation leadership and all the people who wanted to talk to him.

December 16, 2005. New issue of the Banner is published in Ukrainian. Its topic is Advent and ministry in Ivanivka Lutheran Church. Readers can get acquainted with church news, read interview with Pastor Vadym Kolesnyk and with the congregation President Serhiy Yefymenko. December 8 - 16, 2005. Bishop Vyacheslav Horpyncuhk has delivered lectures “History of Christianity in Ukraine and among Slavic Nations” at the Ukrainian Lutheran Theological Seminary of Saint Sophia in Velyka Berezovytsia. Bishop has also led Holy Liturgy at the Seminary Chapel of Christ the Savior on December 14.

December 12, 2005. Cross of the Lord Lutheran Church building in Kremenets is officially certified by the State Commission. Reconstruction that lasted during 5 years is officially completed. Many thanks for the work done belong to the congregation and especially to its President, Deacon Vasyl Andreychuk. He tirelessly worked for many years to bring this project to completion. Thoughts of Faith mission society, Pastor Neal Schroeder and his parish and other sponsors have contributed their money to reconstruction works. Parish members and all visitors can truly enjoy the sanctuary as well as worship the Lord there, to listen to the Word of God and receive the Sacraments. The church building has become a true architectural jewel of the ancient town of Kremenets.

December 11, 2005. Ukrainian Lutheran Church has begun her Advent celebrations. At this time we are getting ready to celebrate Christmas as well as await our Lord’s return in glory to take His Bride, our Church to Heaven. On the very first of the Advent Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kyiv has begun new classes on the Book of Judges as well as invited Brother Mykola Zhurybida to his first Holy Supper celebration in the ULC. Prior to this invitation Brother Mykola has proven to be faithful and active student of Dr. Luther’s Catechism. We wish Brother Mykola many happy and blessed years in service to God and His people in the Ukrainian Lutheran Church.

November 24 – December 2 2005. Bishop V’yacheslav Horpynchuk has visited sister churches in the United States of America. Bishop has preached twice and had Bible classes in the Lutheran Churches of Saint John and Holy Scriptures in Frankenmuth and Midland in Michigan. Bishop has also participated in the meetings with the Thoughts of Faith mission society representatives. Ukrainian students at the Michigan Lutheran Seminary have also had a special opportunity to meet Bishop V’yacheslav and his wife, Angela, who brought news from Ukraine and their home churches as well as Christmas gifts from their families in Ukraine.
