December
28, 2007. Deacon Vasyl Andreychuk, Professor Roger Kovaciny and
Pastor Taras Kokovskiy have visited Oblast Psycho-Neurological
Hospital for children in Kremenets. Thanks to the support
of the U.S. Lutherans repair works were don at the Hospital. In
addition to that a massage room, a training room and a cafeteria
was made as well as heating system was installed and food was
bought. Children and teachers have presented the visitors with
a New Year Day concert.
December
16, 2007. Advent began in the Ukrainian Lutheran Church. On that
day Pastor Taras Kokovskiy has led a presentation of Sigbert Becker's
book, "Revelation: The Distant Triumph Song".
Professor Roger Kovaciny, on request of Pastor Kokovskiy, has
written an article about S. Becker who was his Professor at the
Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. Rev. Roger Kovaciny states
that Sigbert Becker was an "encyclopedia" theologian,
he had an excellent memory and knew the Bible by heart.
December 11, 2007. Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church in Kherson has finished studies of the book of Revelation
and began studies of the Gospel of John. All those
who wish to study the Gospel in Kherson are invited to join the
Bible class at 10 a.m. at the Music School, in 42 komsomolska
Street each Sunday.

December 8, 2007. Holy Cross Lutheran
Church in Kremenets has been visited by Bihsop Vyacheslav Hoprynchuk
who has led the liturgy and preached to the congregation.
After the worship service Pastors Vyacheslav Horpynchuk and Taras
Kokovskiy have introduced to the members and guests of the church
a book written by Sigbert Becker, "Revelation: The Distant
Triumph Song". The book was translated into Ukrainian by
Pastor Taras Kokovskiy and published by the Lutheran Heritage
Foundation.

December 8, 2007. Sophia radio-station
in Kherson (99.4 FM) began to broadcast weekly radio-programs
"We speak about God". Pastor Oleh Stetsiuk
is the speaker. The program is broadcast on Thurdays at 8:30 p.m.
in Kherson and in Kherson area. More about the program you can

November 25, 2007. Resurrection Lutheran
Church in Kyiv has welcome sister Liudmyla Prokhorenko as she
received her First Holy Communion in the Ukrainian Lutheran Church.
We also wish sister Liudmyla all the richest blessings of the
Lord Jesus Christ and traditional Ukrainian many and blessed years!
November 25, 2007. Resurrection Lutheran
Church representatives have brought flowers and lit candles at
the monument to the victims of the Genocide of Ukrainian nation
on the St. Michael's Square in Kyiv. Pastor Vyacheslav
Horpynchuk has led his parishioners in prayer of Commemoration
of the Day of the Famine and political oppression remembrance.
During the genocide, almost 10 million Ukrainians were killed
just in one year.

November 8-9, 2007. The Sobor (Convention)
of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church took place in Kremenets.
The Sobor has reviewed the reports of the Church officials, Eparchy
heads and parishes of the Tavrian Eparchy. With great interest
delegates of the Convention listened to the Sobor's essay "Luther's
Small Catechism -Our Powerful Tool for Young and Old" presented
by Rev. Professor John Vogt, the Ukrainian Lutheran Theological
Seminary of Saint Sophia Rector. The Sobor has elected for one-year
term Pastor Serhiy Romaniuk from Ivano-Frankivsk to be the Vice-Bishop
of the Church and mr. Ihor Rudzik, a Resurrection Lutheran Church
in Kyiv member to be the Secretary of the ULC for the next five
years. The Convention has also elected Mr. Oleh Zelenov, from
Christ the Savior Lutheran Church in Sevastopol to be a member
of the Synodical Council. The Sobor has elected new members of
the Committees and created a new committee - a Committee on the
Christian Literature. The Sobor has discussed other important
matters of the church life. Bishop Vyacheslav Horpynchuk was presiding
at the Sobor. The next Convention of the ULS is scheduled for
September 2008 in Mykolaiv.



November 8, 2007. Bishop Vyacheslav
Horpynchuk has introduced to the ULC pastors and laymen a new
book from the People's Bible series. The book is published
in an electronic format and is entitled "Book of books"
and it is an introduction to the books of the Scriptures. It was
written by John Schaller and is an excellent resource on the Bible.
The translation of the book into Ukrainian was accomplished by
Pastor Vyacheslav Horpynchuk
November 7, 2007. The General Pastoral
Conference of the ULC took place in Kremenets. Pastor
Richard Warnker of "Thoughts of faith" mission society
made his presentation on evangelism entitled "Evangelism
in the Light of Acts 5:42." After a lively discussion of
the paper pastors thanked Pastor Warnke for his interesting and
instructive essay and discussed other matters of the ULC life.
The Conference has reelected for the next five-year term Rev.
Serhiy Zuev (President) and Rev. Taras Kokovskiy (Secretary).


November 6, 2007. Bishop Vyacheslav
Horpynchuk has presented to participants and guests of the Synodical
Council of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church Sibert Becker's
book "Revelation: The Distant Triumph Song." The book
was translated from English by pastor Taras kokovskiy from Ternopil.
These commentaries on the book of Revelation are regarded by many
as the best existing commentary on the last book of the Bible.

November 6, 2007. ULC Synodical Council
meeting took place in the building of the Lord's Cross Lutheran
Church in Kremenets. The Synodical Council has listened
to the reports of the ULC officials and the rector of the Ukrainian
Lutheran Theological Seminary of Saint Sophia. The Synodical Council
has discussed preparations to the 16th Convention of the Ukrainian
Lutheran Church.

October 31, 2007. On this day in 1517
Dr. Martin Luther has nailed his famous 95 theses to the door
of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. Those these³ initiated
the Lutheran Reformation. On this day in 2007 three
pastors from the ULC: Rev. Taras Kokovskiy from Ternopil, Rev.
Oleh Stesiuk from Kherson and Rev. Serhiy Kudryk from Chernihiv
have participated in the web-conference hosted by the RISU, a
prominent religious information agency in Ukraine. The web-conference
was titled "Ukrainian Lutheranism today (on behalf of the
490th anniversary of the Reformation action of Martin Luther)".

October 28, 2007. Reformation Sunday
was celebrated on this day in the Ukrainian Lutheran Church. Ukrainian
Lutherans have thanked for life of Dr. Martin Luther, who was
used by the Lord to renew the Gospel proclamation in His Church.
Concerts took place in the parishes. Resurrection Lutheran
Church in Kyiv has enjoyed children's choir singing. Church youth
group member, Kateryna Hoprynchuk, has presented the song "Reformation"
written by parish members Dmytro Prokopchuk (Youth group) and
Serhiy Yenanov (Choir Director). Celebrations have been finished
with traditional tea and coffee fellowship. Pastor's wife, Angela
Horpynchuk has presented to brothers and sisters a big cake (almost
15 kilos) named "Reformation."

October 24, 2007. Tavrian Eparchy meeting
and Pastoral Conference took place in Kherson. The
Eparchy Head, Pastor Oleh Stetsiuk has presented his paper "Divorce
in the Pastoral family Consequences for the Pastoral Ministry."
Having discussed the paper, congregations representatives have
reviewed parish life and ULC issues.

October 14, 2007. Resurrection Lutheran
Church in Kyiv has thanked the Savior God for wonderful fruit
of the earth raised this year. The parish members have
decorated altar area with fruit, vegetables and cakes that are
truly gifts of the Lord and they thanked the Lord for them and
especially for the souls that are harvested to Heavenly Kingdom
through the Gospel of Christ.

October 7, 2007. Sister in Christ Liudmyla
Kyrychenko has received her first Holy Communion in the Lutheran
Church. Sister Liudmylas has studied Luthers
Small Catechism and Bible in the Resurrection Lutheran Church
in Kyiv. We wish sister Liudmyla many happe blessed years in the
fellowship of the Lord!

October 2, 2007. Evangelism effort took
place in Kamyanets-Podilskiy. Ukrainian Lutheran Theological
Seminary of Saint Sophia Rector john Vogt, Pastor Richard Warnke
of Thoughts of Faith and local Pastor Roman Andruntisv participated
in evangelism. Pastor and laymen of the ULC have witnessed
to hundreds of inhabitants of Kamyanets-Podilskiy, distributed
thousands of invitations and Christian books and journals.
