
Visit to the Sister Church
in Germany
On August 27 and 28 delegation of the Ukrainian
Lutheran Church headed by Bishop V'yacheslav Horpynchuk visited
sister church in Germany - the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church
in the town of Zvikau.

Pastor Gerhard Wilde, pastor Jonas Sehroeter and
other representatives of the ELFC told Ukrainian guests about
their ministry. Ukrainian and German brothers discussed possible
directions for the future cooperation between the ULC and the
ELFC. Members of the Ukrainian delegation visited the Martin Luther
School. It is operated by the ELFC and is very popular in Zvikau.
The Ukrainian delegation also visited a sister congregation in
Hemnitz.
Free Theological Lutheran
Conference in Wittenberg
Representatives of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church
(Bishop V'yacheslav Horpynchuk with his wife Anzhela, Dr. Waine
Borgwardt with wife Myrla and pastor Yuriy Fizer) participated
in the Free Theological Lutheran Conference. It took place in
Wittenburg, Germany on August 24-27.

The Conference was held at the University of Wittenburg
- Leucorea located in the place where Dr. Martin Luther used to
teach. Participants in the Conference had a chance to get acquanted
with historical places where the great Reformer used to serve.
Graduation at the St.
Sophia's Seminary
On August 16 the evening worship service was conducted
in the town of Ternopil. After the service rector of the Ukrainian
Lutheran Theological Seminary of St. Sophia professor David J.
Webber presented Certificate of Bachelor' Degree in Theology to
graduate of the Seminary 2004 deacon Oleksandr Husar.

Deputy rector of the Seminary pastor Oleh Yukhymenko,
deacon Yaroslav Mudryk, pastor of the Ternopil congregation of
St. John and Jacob Taras Kokovsky, members of the congregation,
professors and staffers of the Seminary as well as other guests
participated in the worship service.
Rector of the Seminary David J. Webber preached on John 15:6-7.
Pastor Oleh Yukhymenko provided Ukrainian translation of the sermon.
On the occasion of this event Bishop of the ULC V'yacheslav Horpynchuk
sent in a greeting letter read out by pastor Kokovsky. Bishop
V'yacheslav noted in his greeting the importance of the event.
He adressed professors of the Seminary, its graduate deacon Oleksand
Husar and all those present with wishes of further God's blessings
in preaching the Gospel of salvation.

Dr. Wain Borgwardt greeted the Seminary graduate on behalf of
the Mission Society Thoughts of Faith.
At the end of the worship service participants of the festive
event took pictures, communicated with one another. Editorial
staff of the Banner sincerely greet deacon Oleksandr Husar with
obtaining his Bachelor's degree and wish him all the best, health,
and God's blessings
