June 30 - July 2, 2004. Bishop Vyacheslav Horpynchuk, Dr. John Lawrenz, Dr. Wayne Borgwardt and Mr. Thomas Conzelmann have visited parishes of Radomyshl, Kremenets, Ternopil and Kam'yanets-Podilskiy. They had meetings with the Vacation Bible School teachers, students as well as members of the local congregations. The Vacational Bible School in Ukraine is a joint projects of the Thoughts of Faith mission society and the Ukrainian Lutheran Church.

The first book of the series "I Believe" by Bjarne Teigen is published in Ukrainian.

The book is devoted to studies of Dr. Luther's Small and Large Catechisms. The edition is well illustrated. The book is published in cooperation with the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.


"Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God" (Luke 18:16).
On June 28, 2004 annual Vacation Bible School began in Ukraine. This School is being operated jointly by the Ukrainian Lutheran Church and the Thoughts of Faith Mission Society. Almost 50 brothers and sisters came from the United States to help Ukrainian Lutherans in having the School in Ukraine as well as to learn ancient Christian tradition and culture of Ukraine. This year the VBS theme is the Lord's Prayer. Children from Ukrainian villages, towns, and cities will study the Word of God, English and Christian arts. Bishop Vyacheslav Horpynchuk, Thoughts of Faith Executive Director, Mr. Kermit Traska, Pastor Harold Schewe, Pastor Oleh Okruhin and Mrs. Emilia Zinchenko have participated in the School opening ceremony in Kyiv.

June 13, 2004. Ordination of Vadym Zinchenko took place in the Nativity Lutheran Church in Kyiv. Vadym Zinchenko has graduated from the Ukrainian Lutheran Theological Seminary of Saint Sophia in 2003 with a Master of Divinity degree. Bishop Vyacheslav Horpynchuk, pastor Yuriy Fizer and Dr. John Lawrenz have participated in the liturgy with ordination. Pastor Vadym Zinchenko will conduct his ministry on the Left Bank of Kyiv. We wish Pastor Vadym Zinchenko most richest God's blessings as faithfully preaches the Word and administers Sacraments!

On June 2 and 3 Pastors' Preaching Conference was held in Pushcha Vodytsia located in the outskirts of Kyiv. The Conference was conducted by Dr. John Lawrenz. Mr. Thomas Conzelmann, professor Rolf Preus as well as representative of the Good News magazine Derek Walter participated in the event. The Conference was conducted for the ULC pastors, officers and guests from abroad.
