May 14, 2006. «Honour thy father
and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that
thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee,
in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee»
(Deuteronomy 5:16). Parishes of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church
have celebrated Mother's Day. This is a special day to express
our gratitude to the Lord for mothers, to honor mothers who
bring their children up in the saving faith in Christ. A festive
concert took place on this day in the Resurrection Lutheran
Church in Kyiv. The concert was presented by the Children Group
under leadership of sisters Emilia Zinchenko and Natalie Noha.

May 5-7, 2006. Bishop
Vyacheslav Horpynchuk has visited parishes of the Ukrainian
Lutheran Church in Simferopol and Sevastopol. Bishop
had visits with parishes' members and ministers. He has also
made a presentation of the Book of Concord in Christ the Savior
Lutheran Church in Sevastopol as well as visited the youth group
gathering.

May 4, 2006. Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church in Kherson has a tradition of Thursday Bible classes.
Now people in the congregation led by Pastor Oleh
Stetsiuk study the Book of Judges. Bishop Vyachelav Horpynchuk
has participated in one of such classes while visiting Kherson.
The Bishop has participated in the Bible class and had visits
with the church members.

May 3, 2006. Pastoral Conference of
the Tavrian Eparchy took place in building of the Christ the
Savior Lutheran Church in Mykolaiv. Pastor Oleh Stetsiuk
was leading the Conference. Rev. Dr. Wayne Borgwardt has presented
paper "Minister's Status in the Public Ministry."
Having discussed the paper, pastors of the Eparchy and other
participants of the Conference, including Bishop V'yacheslav,
have shared news and their vision of the Gospel preaching in
the parishes of the southern Ukraine and in the ULC in general.

April 26, 2006. Resurrection Lutheran
Church members have thanked God for salvation and life eternal
they have in Jesus Christ, Crucified and Risen, on Light Wednesday
Evening Prayer. Christian have also remembered the
20th anniversary of the Chernobyl Catastrophe, the largest catastrophe
in the history of mankind that was caused by technological activities
of people. They have thanked the Lord for dedicated firemen
and other men who by price of their life have done their best
to extinguish the fire. Special thanksgivings were presented
to the Lord for saving Kyiv, cradle of Eastern-European Christianity,
Ukrainian culture and statehood.

April 23, 2006. Christ Is Risen! He
Is Risen Indeed! With these words greet each other faithful
of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church as they celebrate Light Resurrection
of Christ the Savior. During festive liturgies Ukrainian
Lutherans were giving thanks to Christ for His victory over
death, glorifying His holy Name by singing, "Christ is
risen from the dead - by His death He has overcome our death
and He has given life to those who are in tombs!" Celebratory
concerts, traditional blessings of Easter baskets prepared to
celebrate our victory in Christ Jesus, the Son of God took place
as well.

April 20, 2006. Ukrainian Lutheran
Church members celebrate the Holy Week. Liturgies
took place in the ULC congregations in remembrance of Jesus'
washing feet of His disciples and the Lord's Supper Introduction.
This is the Sacrament in which Jesus, our Savior real body and
blood are present in bread and wine, as His words testify, "This
is My body
This is My blood of the New Testament
for the forgiveness of sins
"

April 4-11, 2006. Bishop V'yacheslav
Horpynchuk has participated in the Thoughts of Faith mission
society Board of Directors meeting. The meeting took place in
Madison, Wisconsin. Bishop V'yacheslav has had his presentation.
He told the Ukrainian Committee of the Board about perspectives
of the Church as well of challenges that face her. Thoughts
of Faith mission society is a partner of the Ukrainian Lutheran
Church. Thoughts of Faith actively support the ULC in her ministry
of the Gospel.

April 1, 2006. Resurrection Lutheran
Church in Kyiv continues her series of Bible Breakfasts for
ladies. During next few months Bible Breakfasts will
have a general theme, "The Beauty of a Simple Life."
During Bible Breakfasts Christian ladies will also discuss sanctification
in the Lord, Lord's care of His people etc.
